Aaron today
I currently work as an IT technician for an Outsourced Transcription company based in Leamington Spa. The company provides transcription (or typing) services for the Legal, Medical and Finance industry throughout the UK.
As part of the technical team my role includes technical support for internal staff, home based workers and customers in addition to maintenance and development of internal systems.
In my spare time I help small businesses with their technical infrastructure and advise on Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategies. In an attempt to help a wider audience I also maintain my own blog and ‘guest blog’ on other sites in the areas of business and technology.
Aaron’s History
2000 – I developed an interest in technology and left the financial services industry to pursue a formal education in computing. Coventry City College offered an Access to Computing course which (on successful completion) allowed the student to apply for a place at university. I enrolled later that year.
2001 – In the summer I taught myself how to code websites while I waited for my University application to be accepted at Coventry University. I began studying for my degree in Multimedia Computing later that year which focused on Networking, Internet technology, web design, Project management, ecommerce and object oriented development.
2003 – Worked at Codemasters in their Quality Assurance department as a games tester over the summer and was asked to return for a temporary contract in the summer of 2004.
2004 – Graduated with a first class honours degree in Multimedia computing and began working as an IT professional shortly after.
2006 – Returned to University for a course in Project Management.
2008 – Studied to become a Microsoft Certified Professional in the administration of Windows Server.
2010 – Worked as a part time search engine optimisation (SEO) and usability consultant for a web design agency based in the midlands.
2011- Present : Focused on the day job with the outsourced transcription company and doing consultancy/blogging in my spare time.
